Hiszpanie na świecie/ Spaniards in the world

Od kilku tygodni mamy w domu telewizor, który dostałam w prezencie od mojego banku, za to, ze na konto wpływa co miesiąc moja pensja. Może nie był to prezent, co zachęta, żeby wybrać akurat ten bank (inne banki oferowały inne „prezenty”), a nasz salon jakoś pusty bez TV, więc za namową Nuno zdecydowałam się wybrać bank, który te pustkę chciał zapełnić. Nie oglądamy jednak za dużo telewizji, głównie z braku czasu i mojej niechęci do dubbingu.

Hiszpańska telewizja ma bowiem duży minus, mianowicie wszystkie programy mają dubbing, od seriali, po filmy, po programy dokumentalne. Ja nie mogę jednak spokojnie oglądać filmów zagranicznych w hiszpańskiej wersji językowej, z wyjątkiem weekendowego maratonu Dog whisperer (polski tytuł to chyba Zaklinacz psów), który oglądamy w sobotę i niedzielę do południa.

Jednak jest program, który na stałe zagościł w naszym grafiku, w każdy wtorek od 22 oglądamy „Españoles en el Mundo”, czyli Hiszpanie na świecie. Jest to lekki program dokumentalny pokazujący życie Hiszpanów na obczyźnie. Pewnie jednym z powodów, dla którego lubimy ten program, to fakt, że wiele przedstawionych w nim historii przypomina nam naszą. Mamy więc międzynarodowe pary, mamy expatriatów, których firma wysłała do innego kraju, mamy ciekawych innych kultur śmiałków, którzy zamieszkali na innym kontynencie zostawiając pracę, rodzinę, nudne życie za sobą, żeby zostać tancerką Bollywood. Powody emigracji są przeróżne: zarobkowy, związkowy, zawodowy, zainteresowanie odmiennymi kulturami, itp, itd.

Program pokazuje różne aspekty życia hiszpańskich emigrantów: gdzie, z kim mieszkają, gdzie pracują, jak długo są poza kraje, czy zamierzają wrócić, za czym tęsknią, a za czym nie.

Program ma jedną wadę, pokazuje tylko to co ładne, bezpieczne, pokazuje tylko pozytywną stronę życia w obcym kraju, reprezentacyjną stronę miast, wszystkie sceny są kręcone podczas ładnej pogody. Wszyscy bohaterowie odnieśli sukces, mają dobrą prace, wygląda na to, że nie mieli prawie żadnych problemów z zaaklimatyzowaniem się w nowym kraju. Wygląda na to, że wszystko im się pomyślnie układa, cel podroży ich nie rozczarował, nie mieli problemów ze znalezieniem pracy, nie tęsknią zbytnio za rodziną. A wiadomo, że życie emigranta nie zawsze jest tak różowe, początki szczególnie są trudne, w pewnych momentach pojawiają się wątpliwości, szok kulturowy i chęć powrotu. Telewizja lubi jednak pokazywać świat wyidealizowany, tak więc ten program się właśnie w ten trend wpasowuje.

Każdy odcinek to około 50 min i opowiada historie kilku Hiszpanów, jedni pokazują lokalne zabytki, inni zapoznają nas z tradycyjnymi potrawami, jeszcze inni przybliżają nam życie nocne i rozrywki miasta.

Since few weeks we have a TV at home, which I received as a gift from my bank, only for the fact that my salary every month is transferred in the account of that particular bank (called here domiciliary la nómina). Well, rather than calling it a gift, I should say it was an incentive to attract new clients. Other banks were offering different “gifts” but since our living room looked bit empty without TV, I decided to chose this one. It doesn´t mean that now we watch TV a lot, as we rather don´t have much free time and I really can´t stand dubbing. For me Spanish television has a big disadvantage, that is all programs, series, movies, documentaries are dubbed. As I can´t watch foreign movies in Spanish version, we only make exception to watch weekend´s marathon of Dog whisperer- various episodes that lasts for three hours on Saturday and Sunday morning. Besides, there is one program that we watch on regular basis. Every Tuesday, at 22 we wait for “Españoles en el Mundo”, that is Spaniards in the world, to begin. It is a light documentary program that shows few histories of Spanish emigrants in destinations like Brazil, Croatia, Germany, Sweden and many more. Probably one of the reasons why we like this program is that many of the stories presents reminds in some way our own. So there are international couples, expatriates sent by the company to another country, on the other side there are courageous Spaniards interested in other cultures who decided to leave a job, family, normal/boring life to move to another country to become a Bollywood dancer. Reasons why they emigrated differ, some had better job offers, better perspective of professional development, some fall in love with a foreigner and followed him/her to their country, some were so interested in some country that did all they could to make their wishes of living there come true. Program shows different aspects of life of Spanish immigrants: where and with whom they live, where they work, how long they live outside of their homeland, whether they have plans to come back, what they miss and what is better in their new “country”. The program has one mayor drawback, it only shows what is nice, safe, it shows only the positive side of life in a foreign country, all scenes are shot when the weather is nice, as if it never rains there. All the Spaniards that participate in the program were successful, have a good job, it seems that they didn´t experience any problems fitting in a new country. You always get the impression that their life is better than before, that finding a job in another country is a piece of cake, that the country they chose haven´t disappoint them in any aspect, that they do miss their family, but not too much. And we all know that a life of an emigrant is not always so rosy, especially at the beginnings, we all have difficult moments, at a certain point we have our doubts and strong desire to go back home, we experience cultural shock. Television, however, likes to show an idealized world, so this program fits perfectly this tendency. Each episode lasts approximately 50 minutes and presents few Spanish emigrants who tell their personal stories (how they ended up in the country that the episode is showing), each of them is presenting a different aspect of the city/country, some of them are visiting the most famous monuments, others are discovering secrets of local cuisine, yet others invite us to get to know nightlife and cultural life.
