Jarmark bożonarodzeniowy/ Christmas fair

Podobno w Hiszpanii 8 grudzień (Święto Niepokalanego Poczęcia) jest uważany za początek Świąt, dzień, w którym wyjmuje się świąteczne dekoracje.

Jako że mieliśmy dzień wolny, postanowiliśmy wybrać się na jarmark bożonarodzeniowy, na fira de Santa Llúcia (patronka krawców i szwaczek). Ten jarmark istnieje już od ponad 200 lat, sprzedawcy wystawiają się na placu przed katedrą. Na jarmarku tym brak grzanego wina, nie sprzedają nic do jedzenia, ale słychać było kolędy czy piosenki, które zawsze słychać w sklepach w okresie przedświątecznym. Jest za to pełno dekoracji świątecznych, wszystko, czego potrzebujemy, żeby udekorować mieszkanie, ubrać choinkę, czy zmontować żłóbek. Stoiska można podzielić na kilka sektorów, ze względu na to, co oferują. Strefa zielona sprzedaje choinki, mech i korek do budowy szopki, gałęzie jemioły i eukaliptusa, gwiazdy betlejemskie, oraz łańcuchy, bombki, lampki do dekoracji choinki.

Inne stanowiska specjalizują się w dekoracji żłóbka, różnej wielkości postacie: Józef, Maryja, dzieciątko Jezus, Trzej Królowie, pasterze, rzymscy żołnierze, aniołowie, zwierzęta, oraz inne elementy potrzebne do odtworzenia szopki: domy, stodoły, obory, mosty oraz inne elementy (niektóre podświetlane). Jeszcze inne stanowiska sprzedają małe upominki.

Jarmark czynny jest do 23 grudnia, ma swoją własną stronę internetową (ciekawe archiwum ze starymi, czarno-białymi zdjęciami), jest niezwykle popularny, trzeba się przygotować na tłumy barcelończyków i turystów, którzy kupują tam swoje dekoracje świąteczne.Jak zdjęcia moje nie oddają wystarczająco atmosfery, na samym dole załączam film video (niestety w wersji katalońskiej tyle).

Poszliśmy zobaczyć żłóbek na placa Sant Jaume, ale wypada blado przy polskich żywych żłobkach.

W następnych postach o postaci caganera, tradycyjnej katalońskiej figurce świątecznej oraz o Tió de Nadal.

Apparently in Spain, 8th December (the Feast of the Immaculate Conception) is considered the beginning of Christmas, it is when people put up their Christmas decorations.

Since we had a day off, we decided to go for a Christmas fair, the fira de Santa Llúcia (the saint patron of tailors and seamstresses). This fair has been present in Barcelona for over 200 years, which makes it the oldest, the biggest, the most Christmas market. Vendors set up their stalls in front of the Cathedral. It has everything that you need to decorate your flat and your Xmas tree and all the elements to put up your own Creche and Nativity scenes. The only think I was missing there was mulled wine, there was nobody that was selling food, but you could hear Christmas carols and songs. The stands can be divided into several sectors, divided by what they sell. In the green one you can buy Christmas trees, moss and cork that you can use in construction of a crèche, mistletoe and eucalyptus, poinsettias, and then everything that you need to decorate a tree: lights, ornaments, garlands.

Other stands specialize in decoration of crèches (pessebre), you can buy nativity figures in different size of Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, Three Kings, shepherds, Roman soldiers, Angels, animals, and other elements needed set your own nativity scene: houses, barns, bridges and other elements (some illuminated).Another offers small gifts cards, etc.

Fair is open until 23th December, has its own website (interesting archive with black-white photos), is extremely popular, so one needs to be prepared that hundreds of barcelonians and tourist go there to buy their Christmas decorations. We also went to see the crèche in placa Sant Jaume, but it was a disappointment when compared to Polish nativity scenes when you can see real animals.
