Barcelona to prawdziwy tygiel. Stara dzielnica gotycka z katedrą, tradycyjne dzielnice portowe, zatłoczone i turystyczne Ramblas, a o krok od nich (no może raczej kilka stacji metrem) znajdują się nowoczesne dzielnice ze szkła i metalu.

W niedzielę wybraliśmy się właśnie to jednej z nowszych, nie tak turystycznych dzielnic Barcelony. Poblenou, dawna dzielnica przemysłowa, zmienia się z roku na rok, dzięki licznym projektom architektonicznym. Jednym z nich jest 22 @. Ale o tym będzie dokładniej w innym poście.

Dziś za to o dwóch nowoczesnych parkach dzielnicy, zaprojektowanych w XXI wieku.

Parc del Centre del Poblenou o powierzchni 5.5 hektara, zaprojektowany w 2001 (a ukończony zaledwie trzy lata temu, w 2008) przez Jean Nouvel był prawdziwym wyzwaniem i dość kontrowersyjnym projektem. Choćby ze względu na fakt, że przecinają go 2 uliczki, a znajduje się przy samej Av. Diagonal, głównej arterii komunikacyjnej miasta. W rezultacie ten nowoczesny park składa się z kilku części, odgrodzonych od ulicy betonowymi ścianami, części połączone są tunelami, obrośniętymi kwiatami, w każdej znajdują się zaskakujące detale architektoniczne. Do tego wyglądem nie przypomina tradycyjnego parku miejskiego.



W parku znajdują się jednak tradycyjne elementy: plac zabaw, boisko do gry w koszykówkę, stoły do gry w ping ponga, krzesełka i ławki. Czyli spełnia główne założenia , jakie stawiamy tradycyjnym parkom: odpoczynek, rekreacja, zabawa i ruch w otoczeniu zieleni, z dala od gwaru miasta. Do tego dodajemy elementu wyłamujące go z tradycyjnego wyglądu parku: dziwne konstrukcje metalowe.




Innym nowoczesnym parkiem, położonym zresztą niedaleko, jest Park Diagonal Mar. Otwarty w 2002, znajduje się również (jak sama nazwa wskazuje) przy Diagonal.
Czy tak właśnie będą wyglądać parki w przyszłości? Gdzie brak naturalnej zieleni będzie zastąpiony przez zbiorniki wodne, konstrukcje z betonu, szkła i metalu ? Gdzie pierwszym słowem jakie przychodzi do głowy jest nowoczesność i udziwnienie? Ta nowoczesna zielona przestrzeń została doceniona zresztą przez Amerykańskie Stowarzyszenie Architektów Krajobrazu, którzy przyznali mu nagrodę w 2005.



Alejki w tym parku przecinają się pod kątem ostrym, pełno dziwnych konstrukcji architektonicznych, wielkich donic, podwieszonych kwiatów. Ale jak w „normalnym parku” pełno rodzin z dziećmi, pieski wychodzą na spacerki.
Oba parki wpasowują się idealnie w nowoczesną dzielnice, otoczone przez wieżowce, biurowce, szklane hotele.



Barcelona is a melting pot of different cultures, styles and worlds. And it is not only limited to people who live here or just come to visit. The city itself is a real mixture. The old Gothic Quarter with the cathedral, the traditional port districts, touristic and crowded Ramblas, and few steps away (better say few metro station) are modern districts made of glass and metal.

On Sunday we went to one of the most modern parts of Barcelona, obviously not that touristic (that was the main reason we went there, to escape the crowds). Poblenou, a former industrial district, is changing constantly, thanks to numerous architectural projects. One of them is 22 @. But more about that project in some future post. Today, it is just about two modern parks of the district, designed in the 21st century.

Parc del Centre del Poblenou of 5.5 hectares, was designed in 2001 (and completed just three years ago, in 2008) by Jean Nouvel. The project was controversial and presented a real challenge, due to the location: the park is crossed by two small streets and situated on the Av. Diagonal, the main artery of the city. As a result, this modern park consists of several parts connected by tunnels, overgrown with flowers, separated from the noisy street by concrete walls, and inside one can find many surprising architectural details.



It really doesn’t look like a traditional urban park. However, there are traditional elements as well: playground for children, basketball field, tables to play ping pong, chairs and benches. In other words, what we want from a traditional park, it is all here: place to rest, have fun, relax in green surroundings, away from the noise of the city. To this we add an element that is more unusual: strange metal structures.




There is another very modern park, situated very close. The park Diagonal Mar was opened in 2002, and as its name suggests is located also on Av. Diagonal. Is that what all parks in the future would look like? Where the natural green spaces are replaced by artificial ponds and surrounded not by grass but by concrete, glass and metal? The first words that to describe the park after entering that I used to describe it were modern, strange and surprising. This modern green space has been recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects, awarding it in 2005, so probably in the future more and more parks are constructed similarly.



Alleys in the park intersect at an acute angle, it is full of strange architectural structures, large pots with suspended flowers. On the other hand, as in "normal park" there are a lot of families with children, people taking their dogs for a walks. Both parks fit perfectly in modern neighborhoods, surrounded by skyscrapers, office buildings, hotels made of glass.
