Miejska plaża/ Urban beach

Barcelona oprócz wielu atrakcji turystyczno/zabytkowo/gastronomicznych, posiada niewątpliwie duży plus, którym jest dostęp do plaży. Oczywiście wiadomo, że lepsze, ładniejsze, czystsze, mniej zaludnione plaże nie znajdują się w centrum miasta, ale nikt nie zaprzeczy, że wieczorny spacer po Passaig Maritim jest miłym zakończeniem dnia. Łatwy dostęp metrem czy bicingiem do plaż Barceloneta, Bogatell czy Vila Olimpica, sprawia, że zarówno barcelończycy jak i turyści zaludniają miejskie plaże, już od miesięcy wiosennych mieszczuchy wystawiają twarze ku słońcu, co odważniejsi (najczęściej turyści z zimniejszych krajów) zanurzają się w morzu. Nikogo nie dziwi, że podczas gdy Hiszpanie chodzą jeszcze w kurtkach, Anglicy wygrzewają się na plaży i wcale nie uważają, że jest za zimno na kąpiel w morzu.. Ach, nikogo nie powinien dziwić widok (ale to już latem) plażowiczek opalających się topless w centrum miasta, opalanie się topless jest jak najbardziej akceptowane.



Na plaży są także atrakcje dla bardziej aktywnych. Można pograć w siatkówkę, a Passaig Maritim jest idealnym miejscem na przejażdżkę rowerem, jazdę rolkami czy na skatebordzie.

Zawsze znajdą się drobni handlarze przemierzający plażę i nawołujący do zakupu napojów, taniej biżuterii, w zasadzie czegokolwiek, albo masażystki oferujące swoje usługi. Plażowicze, gdy poczują nagły głód, mogą posilić się w chiringuito (barze plażowym),jakich pełno, czy wejść w głąb Barcelonety w poszukiwaniu jakiegoś lokalu, można także przyjść z własnym prowiantem, bo piknik na plaży jest dobrą alternatywą.



Postanowiłam wykorzystać brak samochodu i towarzystwa Nuno na relaks z książką na Barcelonecie. Oczywiście wolałabym pojechać do jakiegoś urokliwego miasteczka na Costa Brava, czy chociaż podjechać do Casteldefells czy Garraf, ale najszybciej i najwygodniej było mi dojechać na Barcelonetę. Plaża jest czysta, dojazd łatwy, wody nie sprawdzałam, ale kilka osób pluskało się, innymi słowy idealne miejsce na relaks z książką/gazetą.

Barcelona, without mention countless tourist attractions/monuments/ good food, has yet another big advantage, direct access to the beach. Of course, it is common knowledge that better, cleaner, less frequented beaches are not in the city center, but nobody can deny that an evening walk down Passaig Maritim is a nice way to end a day. It is very easy to get to the beaches of Barceloneta, Bogatell and Vila Olimpica both by metro or by bicing. That is why barcelonians and tourists from the early spring till autumn try to enjoy there every glimpse of the sun. It is not surprising to see some bold tourists, usually from Nordic countries, who wear flip flops and sleeveless shirts and decide to take a swim in cold sea, when Spaniards still wear jackets and boots. Oh, and one should also be prepared (but this happens mainly in summer) to see countless topless women sunbathing on the urban beach, which is totally acceptable and doesn’t shock anyone.




The urban beaches in Barcelona offer also some attractions for more active ones. You can play volleyball, and Passaig Maritim is ideal for riding a bike, roller-skating or skateboarding.
What is also a common element that you can spot on Barcelona´s beaches, are small traders offering you to buy drinks, cheap jewelry, basically everything, or masseuse offering their services. There are lot of chiringuito (beach bars) when you can drink and eat something when you suddenly get hungry. Or you can just bring your own food as a picnic on the beach is a good alternative too.

Since Nuno was off to Portugal, and I decided to spend a relaxing Sunday reading a book on Barceloneta beach. Of course I'd rather go to a charming little town in the Costa Brava, or even drive up to Casteldefells or Garraf, but the fastest and easiest way to go to a beach, was going by metro to Barceloneta. The beach is clean, it is easy to get there, it wasn’textremely hot so it was not so crowded, there were few people enjoying a swim in the sea. In other words, the perfect place to relax with a book / newspaper.
