Wehikuł czasu/ Time machine

Before starting to read this post, you should turn on the proper music (to make your life easier I attach some videos) so that you get the right atmosphere and feel for a while as a if you were transported back to the good old fifties. And you really don’t need a travel machine to believe, if only for a second, you are part of the Grease musical. This post is dedicated to my dear friend Kate (yes, you, the one that gave me the CD called pink hits from the eighties), cause it is just the place where we could spend a nice afternoon and gossip like American teenagers.

Before saying anything more: our time machine this Saturday was a diner called Peggy Sue, in Barcelona. Its retro décor results so familiar thanks to thousands movies from this decade you’ve seen. So there were candy pink walls, mint green sofas, jukeboxes so that you could choose your favorite song.

And of course they only serve food you would normally expect to see in a movie of the 50s. Normally I try to avoid fast food (you never know what you eat when you ear mac), but sometimes I just can’t help it. Still, to eat a burger called Peggy Sue, Mary Lou, James Brown or Aretha Franklin is to bring fast food to another level.
fast food being brought to another level. Then add a real milkshake, a Cherry Coke, and for a dessert: brownie with ice cream (me) and apple crumble (Nuno). Well, personally I can’t think of anything more American (in a good way). And then you go to the bathroom (pink) and you see a poster of John Travolta from the movie Grease. (Kasia, why are you so far away and we can’t watch Grease tonight?)

It seems that places serving only hamburgers are really trendy, at least in Barcelona, as they are always packed. We already tried Kiosko (we liked it, but the atmosphere and the concept is completely different from Peggy Sue- which I discovered in this blog while searching for the lunch place inspiration), we still have some to check out. We really enjoyed our “trip” to the 50s, probably more because of the overly sweet pink decoration of the place than food itself.

The website of this chain of diners is really worth visiting, if you are not able to make it to the closest Peggy Sue.

Agnieszka, this is one place I have planned to go for a long time, but I haven't been able to set my schedule...I'm really curious about it, and now I've seen you ate very well and you had a cool experience, I'll look forward for it!!
You are totally right about hamburgers in Barcelona, there's a cool fashion going on. Gourmet, they call it. In a few days I'm going to write about that fashion in my blog...
Keep on blogging!!
