Najpierw do Quimet&Quimet/ First, to Quimet&Quimet

In the bar Quimet & Quimet there is a tile on the wall: a policeman explains to turists they should see Gaudi, Picasso, Miró ... but they are more interested on what street this small bar is located. Carmen recommended me this little café, but last time we tried to taste their specialities on a Saturday night, it was closed. It turned out that their opening hours are quite limited: Mon-Fri hours in the lunchtime 12pm-4pm, and then in the evening 7pm-10.30pm. However, those are weekdays hours, cause if you intent to try their tapas during the weekend, you can only go there on Saturday (12pm-4pm) and you always have to expect the place to bu full, as it has as a fully-deserved reputation of the bodega where you can enjoy the best montaditos. You have to add this word to your culinary dictionary, montadito means a small sandwichs with something on top, thos „something” depends only one one’s creativity. We trusted recommendation of a friendly waitress and were goven montaditos with white cheese, salmon and honey, other with mussels and caviar, yet another with sardine (I guess it was a sardine) and olives and a plate of delicious cheese. And to drink, homemade vermouth.

A tiny space, a size of an average living room, has no seats and there are only two tables, this bar fills up at lunchtime and evening, and many customers are eating their montadidos on the sidewalk.
The interior is also original, the bottles of wines, beer, spririt from different parts of the world cover the walls from floor to ceiling.

But it’s the food that attract Barcelonians and visitors (tourists, however, are in the minority) to stop at Quimet & Quimet Barcelonians. Personally, I just can’t wait to go there once again. And prpbably again I wil just ask a day speciality or a montadito they recommend. Run by fifth generation of Quim family (the bar passes from generation to generation and hasn’t lost its familiar and climate), this bodega invites you to food heaven.
